From here to eternity

The film, directed by Fred Zinneman and based on the novel by James Jones, with a title that was part of a verse from the poem Gentelmen-rankers by Rudyard Kipling, a hymn to loyalty and camaraderie above orders, corruption and mediocrities. The film takes place in a barracks in Hawaii, months before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, different stories follow one another, that of Private Prewitt (Mongomery Clift), a former boxer, who just wants to be a good bugler and soldier and has to put up with the pressure of his superiors, his own captain and that of his companions to recover his pugilistic past, only a soldier Maggio (Frank Sinatra) and his colonel try to help him. But I prefer the story of the passionate romance between Colonel Warden (Burt Lancaster) and the protagonist Karen Holmes (Deborah Kerr), married to Captain Holmes, who remains in a marriage that no longer serves that purpose, in which there is no kind of bond, only contempt, resentment and reproach. Because that intelligent, beautiful and attractive woman stays by the side of her husband who does not love her and who also humiliates her, belittles her and cheats on her. Story I've seen repeated so many times

I think it is about the respect that one owes to oneself, to the value that we give to ourselves, if we do not value or respect ourselves as others are going to do, our motto should be: ā€œRespect yourself enough to walk away from anything that no longer serves you, makes you grow, or makes you happy.ā€

Ā And so we will leave room for new and better things to enter our lives. Our protagonist, clinging to that man who makes her unhappy, will not leave room for when love arrives, Sergeant Warden and the one who tries to justify her stay with her husband by pitying herself and since she has not valued herself he won't either.

Now you don't have to go official because my Dana is already out of the army.

You don't want to marry me…….you are already married to the armyā€
