The film takes place in a barracks in Hawaii, months before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, different stories follow one another, that of Private Prewitt (Mongomery Clift), a former boxer, who just wants to be a good bugler and soldier and has to put up with the pressure of his superiors, his own captain and that of his companions to recover his pugilistic past, only a soldier Maggio (Frank Sinatra) and his colonel try to help him. But I prefer the story of the passionate romance between Colonel Warden (Burt Lancaster) and the protagonist Karen Holmes (Deborah Kerr), married to Captain Holmes, who remains in a marriage that no longer serves that purpose, in which there is no kind of bond, only contempt, resentment and reproach. Because that intelligent, beautiful and attractive woman stays by the side of her husband who does not love her and who also humiliates her, belittles her and cheats on her.
